Mount Locks started when our founder, Madi, was 12 years old. She biked around town frequently, but often forget her lock. This forced her to either leave her bike vulnerable to thieves or return home. One day, after misplacing her lock, she formulated the idea for a bike lock that was integrated into the bike. Madi took her idea and ran with it, designing the lock and entering into the Gates Invention Competition at Garland Country Day School. At the end of the program, she was awarded a grant to pursue a patent. At the age of 15, Madi was granted two patents for her retracting bike lock.
Throughout high school, Madi's passion for entrepreneurship grew. She enrolled at Northeastern University and joined IDEA, a venture accelerator, where she continued to work with her retracting bike lock. Founding Mount Locks in 2018, her idea is now becoming reality.
She and the rest of the team have been hard at work creating a product ready for production. Stay tuned!
